Essay on Indira Gandhi – After the sudden death of Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi became the Prime Minister of India, she was also the first woman Prime Minister of India and she was a popular and favorite leader of India also known as the Indian Iron Lady. she had a good education in politics and due to which she was successful in his work that his father was the first Prime Minister of India.

Indira Gandhi received her primary education in Allah Abad and she completed her higher education at Oxford and Santiniketan. She participated in many meetings with Mahatma Gandhi in the independence of India. He fought fearlessly against communalism and communalism Indira Gandhi was known for her leadership skills.

In the year 1942, Indira Gandhi married Feroze Gandhi.  She had two sons named Sanjay Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.  Her husband Firoze Gandhi belonged to the Zoroastrian Parsi family from Gujarat. Her husband died in 1960.

Indira Gandhi’s father was the first Prime Minister of India and his mother was an independent fighter. Indira Gandhi had a deep understanding of politics. In 1959, Indira Gandhi was elected President of the Indian National Congress. Before joining politics she was the personal assistant and host to her father. She also served as a member of the Rajya Sabha and became the cabinet minister in Lal Bahadur Shastri’s government. She won Raebareli Lok Sabha’s seat and became prime Minister in 1967 with a tenure of 11 years.

Indira Gandhi was PM twice.  She was the PM of India from 1966 to 1977 and from 1980 to 1984. During her tenure as PM of India had made a lot of progress in science and technology. She made the country capable of having nuclear weapons. Indira Gandhi started the Garibi Hatao campaign launching the anti-poverty program for the poor. She made many new schemes for organized agriculture in IndiaThe woman behind defeating Pakistan in 1971.

Indira Gandhi received the highest civilian honor Bharat ratan in 1971. Indira Gandhi was known for her bold decisions in Indian politics. She was shot dead by two of his security guards at his residence on the black Wednesday morning of 31 October 1984.  She lost a qualified producer in India by his death.
