National festival

There are three types of national festivals celebrated in our country.  Like Independence Day, Republic Day, and Gandhi Jayanti. In these festivals, people of different religions forget their caste and gender and celebrate together with great enthusiasm.

Republic Day

The Constitution of our country came into force on 26 January 1950.  Since then it is celebrated as Republic Day and the country’s freedom fighter and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar who wrote the constitution of our country is remembered. Various programs are organized on this day and sweets are distributed among the children.

Independence Day

On 15th August, the Prime Minister of our country remembers the work and sacrifices done by the freedom fighters towards the country by hoisting the flag at the Red Fort. Speeches and other programs are also organized in his honor. The flag is also hoisted in all government and non-government institutions on this day.

Gandhi Jayanti

In our country, every year on 2nd October is celebrated as the birth ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi. This day is dedicated to the memory of Mahatma Gandhi for his wonderful work and his sacrifice. On the day of Gandhi Jayanti, his great works are remembered by organizing various programs in all government and non-government organizations.

Religious festival

People of different religions live in the country of India, so different cultures are present here.  That is why there are always different types of festivals held here. In which there are many religious festivals like Deepawali, Eid, Christmas, and Holi which people of every religion celebrate with full pomp.


Holi is a festival of colors. It is one of the most fun Indian festivals. On this day all people pour colors on each other and distribute sweets. Loudspeakers are played at most places and people dance. In some places, people beat each other with sticks and throw mud at each other as a tradition.


Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years on the day of Diwali with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. The whole city was decorated with lamps to welcome him. People celebrate it with great joy and enthusiasm even today. On this day all the people light up their homes with candles and diyas.On this day all worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha and burn crackers to celebrate this festival.


This is the biggest and important festival for the people of Christianity. People celebrate it with full joy, gaiety, and enthusiasm as the birthday of Jesus Christ. On Christmas Day, the Christmas tree is specially decorated and the cake is cut.  After that everyone also gives gifts and congratulations to each other. On this day Santa Claus brings gifts for the children and children are very happy to receive gifts.


Eid is one of the best festivals in the Muslim community. It is created by announcing the end of Ramazan. The Holy Quran is displayed to the Prophet Mohammed during the month of Ramazan. Muslims do not forget to fast in this month and celebrate Eid ul Fitr at the end of the month.

Seasonal Festivals

Seasonal festivals are also celebrated in many regions of our country. In which festivals like Basant Panchami, Bihu, Pongal, Vaisakhi, Makar Sankranti, and Lori are included.
