Essay on Diwali in English – India is a country of festivals and Deepawali is the largest festival celebrated by Hindus in India.  This festival is celebrated every year on the new moon day of Kartik month. Due to the special festival of lamps, it is named Deepawali Yad Diwali.

The festival of Deepawali is celebrated with great pomp in India and in many other countries.  Deepawali is also called the festival of lamps.  The festival of Deepawali is one of the major festivals in India. Since then, every year this day is celebrated as the festival of Deepawali by children, old and elder celebrates this festival with great joy and pomp.

Deepawali is celebrated with great fervor in India because, on this day, King Rama of Ayodhya returned to Ayodhya along with Sita Lakshman after destroying the tyrannical king Ravana of Lanka and cutting the exile of 14 years.  He is in the joy of victory and arrival.  The people of Ayodhya had illuminated the entire city with lamps. Since that day, every year Indians celebrate their heartfelt joy by lighting a lamp on this day and expressing their happiness by feeding each other sweets.

Cleaning of the home shop and the office is done a few days before Deepawali because it is believed that keeping cleanliness in your house shop and office etc. on Deepawali, Lakshmi Mata enters that place. On this day everyone especially children gifts sweets crackers and other clothes from the market.

On the day of Deepawali, Lakshmi and Ganesh Puja are performed in the home, shop, and office.  After the puja is completed, everyone distributes offerings and gifts to each other and also wishes God his life and the happiness of others. After worshiping in their house in the evening, they decorate the houses with lamps, and finally, all are immersed in the fun of Deepawali with firecrackers and various games.

India is known as the land of festivals. Diwali is the most important and big festival of Hindu. This festival is celebrated by Hindus with excitement and happiness. Diwali is our most widely festival. It comes after Dussehra. Before the arrival of Diwali, people clean and paint their homes.

The day two days before Diwali is considered as Dhanteras. Buying utensils, jewelry, or any other new thing on this day is considered auspicious. Diwali comes on a new moon day when it is pitch dark. The light symbolizes the desire of a man to March from darkness to light, from evil to good. It has its special religious significance. It is a new year’s day for traders, old accounts are settled and new books are opened. Some people gamble in the night but it is a bad practice and it should be stopped.

In fact, it is a festival that reminds us of the victory of good over evil. Lord Rama defeated Ravana and returned to Ayodhya on this day. On the night of Diwali, people worship Goddess Lakshmi and Ganesha. Diyas, lamps, etc. are lit in homes. Dishes are prepared and sweets are distributed among neighbors and relatives. On this day children and elders burn crackers.
